Hi Ho, Hi Ho, It’s off to build we go…

Ok, I would like to state, for the record, that I am apparently an idiot, and I have watched WAY too much DIY channel for my own good. I mean, what the hell was I thinking? A sailboat? Am I mad? Did I lose my mind when I wasn’t looking? Was there a memo about insane full moons and I missed it?

Also, the damn book has the plans wrong. The plans didn’t include all of the wood you need. So, after paying to have all this lumber and sand delivered, I come to find out that I’m missing a crucial element. Bastards at Sunset will be hearing from me, this I can guarantee. I’m gonna whack some people with that missing 2x4x8, I am.

But the fact that I’m missing lumber is the least of my worries…as I haven’t even gotten to the stage where I need that part. What I didn’t realize, when I started this rather quixotic attempt at building playground equipment, is how heavy a 12 x 8 x 2 piece of wood is. Holy gods, I need cabana boys just to get the wood to the table saw. And in these insane, satan-designed plans that I’m trying to follow, almost every piece of wood requires a cross cut, and then a beveled ripped long cut. The Man and I spent hours and hours, just getting the wood cut.

I could have just built a box. Four sides, nothing tricky…just a square. I could have been done in a couple of hours…but no. I had to be clever. I reiterate…I am a bloody lunatic. And I’m missing lumber, so I guess we could say that I’m one board short of a full boat…
